Approximately 2 billion people globally lack access to safe drinking water, and nearly half of the world’s population experiences substantial water shortage at specific times throughout the year.  

As these figures continue to rise, because of natural and human-induced calamities, climate change, and population growth, so will the number of illnesses, waterborne diseases, and food shortages. 

🚻 1. Family Washrooms with Water Tank – Refugees in Jordan

In Jordan, thousands of Syrian and Palestinian refugee families live in overcrowded shelters without proper bathrooms. HHRD builds private family washrooms with attached water tanks to ensure:

• Dignity and hygiene for women, children, and the elderly
• Protection from disease and open defecation
• Immediate water access for bathing and cleaning
• Safe, private spaces for families living in difficult conditions

🏫 2. Washroom for a School – Afghanistan

In many Afghan schools, especially in rural areas, students—especially girls—are forced to leave early or skip school altogether due to the lack of toilets.

• Encourages school attendance, especially for girls
• Reduces disease transmission and improves hygiene

• Helps break the cycle of poverty through education

☀️ 3. Solar Water Well – Pakistan

In water-scarce regions of Pakistan, HHRD installs solar-powered water wells that bring safe, clean drinking water to entire communities.

• Uses sustainable solar energy to power submersible pumps
• Serves 200–250 people per installation
• Low maintenance and long lifespan (5+ years)
• Prevents deadly waterborne illnesses and reduces daily burdens
